Big wins for d'Cup contenders
St Elizabeth Technical made light work of their Zone E hosts, B.B. Coke High, dispatching them by a 7-0 margin in yesterday's ISSA-FLOW daCosta Cup football competition.
The win, despite coming against a team that has only managed two wins this season, will add confidence to the former champions' push as they get ready for their second-round assignment.
The Omar Wedderburn-coached STETHS ended the preliminary round with 26 points, four ahead of second-place Munro College. Meanwhile, Zone M leaders Glenmuir defeated Denbigh 2-0 in their encounter.
Glenmuir lead their zone with 24 points, sitting ahead of Denbigh (13) and Bellefield (10).
Dinthill Technical also moved into the next round with an easy 4-0 victory over Charlemont in Zone K action yesterday to finish atop the zone with 30 points. They were followed by Ewarton (15) and Bog Walk (11).
Defending champions Cornwall College also increased their chances of qualifying for the next round of the competition with a 2-0 victory over Anchovy.
Cornwall, who have completed their fixtures, lead the zone with 25 points, three ahead of St James, who have a game in hand.
