Grant returns to Portland FA presidency

Outgoing Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) general secretary Raymond Grant has been re-elected president of the Portland Football Association (PFA) during an extraordinary general meeting yesterday evening.

Grant returns to the role exactly five years after leaving to serve at the JFF. Grant had sought to leave the JFF twice but was asked to reconsider. He then submitted a resignation once more which was accepted by the JFF on September 16, the same day as the body's annual general meeting and presidential election. He, however, continued to serve in the role to help the JFF until it finds his permanent replacement.

Garfield Fuller, who had replaced Grant as PFA president, was elected first deputy president. Both Grant and Fuller were elected unopposed after nomination which was opened on September 28 closed with no challenger to both positions.

Although Grant will no longer be the JFF's general secretary, he will still be a part of the federation as a director. Grant said in a release from the PFA that he will now turn his attention to the launch of the Portland Cooperative Credit Union KO competition and the Western Union Major League; both are set to start before the end of the month.
