Dinthill's coach ready after accident

Dinthill Technical High's coach, Curtis Hamilton, who was involved in an accident on the Ewarton main road early Monday morning in Orangefield, St Catherine, said he is ready for his team's Ben Francis Cup knockout final today against Clarendon College at St Elizabeth Technical High.

Hamilton sustained minor back and shoulder injuries in the accident that he said claimed the life of one man.

"I was there with my friend in a vehicle and ready to leave after he picked me up for a party at approximately 1 a.m. We were about to leave when the accident happened. I went to the hospital by myself and the police came there and took a statement. I was released on

the same day," Hamilton explained. Efforts to get details on the accident from the Constabulary Communication Unit proved futile.

"I picked up a lower-back injury, felt some tension in my neck, and my shoulder is not 100 per cent because of a whiplash," Hamilton added.

"I am up for the match tomorrow. I don't want to miss it for nothing. I was at training yesterday, but could not do much (physically), but was hands-on."

National senior team invitee Khareem Parris is Dinthill's topscorer in all competitions with 29 goals, but Hamilton quickly warned that Dinthill are not only about one player.

"It is a lot of people's opinion that we are a one-man team, but we do not coach in that manner. Parris has a responsibility to lift the team and score goals on match day, and he is consistently doing that," he said.

"We have other players like Shamar Davis, who is on 11 goals, and Andre Fletcher on 10. In my team, there are nine to 10 players who have scored this season. We play Parris in a free role. He brings the attack for us.

"I am pretty confident as we also have players with the responsibility to defend as well. We always try to win the midfield battle in each game," Hamilton, who is a former Dinthill star player, said.
