Veteran cyclist Marloe Rodman was involved in a motorcycle crash early yesterday morning. Rodman was riding his motorcycle in Gordon Pen, St Catherine, at around 1 a.m. on Sunday morning when he collided with another, rider whose motorcycle had no headlight. Rodman was taken to the Spanish Town Hospital, where he is now recovering from surgery done last night. The condition of the other rider is unknown.

Jamaica Cycling Federation president Joylene Griffiths Irving told The Gleaner that Rodman's condition is not life threatening and she is thankful that he was wearing a helmet.

"There is no head damage (because he was wearing his helmet)," she said. "He has fractured his left forearm. He has a few cuts and bruises on his thigh and his chest, but they are not serious. He's conscious, he's talkin,g and we are very pleased that it was nothing more serious. We are also asking everyone to pray with us."

Griffiths Irving said, at the time, that she had not yet heard from Rodman's doctor how long he would need to make a full recovery.
