Fabian Allen delighted by back-to-back unbeaten centuries

Entertaining Jamaica Scorpions batting all-rounder Fabian Allen has expressed pleasure with his start to the CWI-Digicel Four-day Championship after scoring back-to-back undefeated centuries.

The most immediate was a fluent 105 made against the Windward Islands Volcanoes at Sabina Park at the weekend, which helped the team secure a 10-wicket victory.

The former, 169 not out, was made against Trinidad and Tobago Red Force in Trinidad in the second round of the tournament, which helped Jamaica secure a draw.

The 22-year-old missed out on the third and fourth round of matches because of a foot injury he picked up in the Trinidad encounter.

"I cannot complain about my game, as I am getting starts and continue to do well,'' said Allen, whose batting average now stands at an impressive 114.

"My target at the start of season was to score at least three centuries. However, now that I have gotten two in three matches, I want to push on.''

Allen, who represented the West Indies at the Under-19 World Cup in 2014, has been a revelation for the Scorpions since making his debut at the back end of last season.

He played four matches then and was able to post three half-centuries. This has resulted in him having an average of 51.50 from seven first-class appearances, and for him it has been almost like a dream start to his career.

'I AM HAPPY'

"My goal is to represent the West Indies at the senior level, and for me to get the type of start I have to my first-class career, I am happy,'' said Allen, who played one match for the Chris Gayle-captained St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the Caribbean Premier League Twenty20 in the summer.

"Coming into the team as a youngster, I heard about cricket at first-class level and the type of focus and skills that are required.

"But I have been training hard, and always believed in myself, and so far I am enjoying myself, and hope that as the season progresses, I will get better.''

Jamaica will play the Denesh Ramdin-led Trinidad and Tobago Red Force at Sabina Park in their first return-leg fixture, beginning on Thursday.
