Palmer's 100 puts Scorpions firmly on top

A maiden first-class ton by stand-in captain Paul Palmer lifted the Jamaica Scorpions to 535 and left them strongly placed to force an outright win over  Trinidad and Tobago Red Force at the end of  Saturday's play in the CWI-Digicel Four-day Championship clash at Sabina Park.

Palmer slammed 136 as Jamaica, replying to 243 made by Trinidad in their first innings, scored 535.

Trinidad, batting a second time, and facing a deficit of 292 runs, closed on 21 for one when play on the third day was called off due to a combination of rain and bad light. 

Also getting among the runs for the Scorpions, were  young all-rounder Odean Smith, who struck seven sixes and a four in a knock of 54 off 27 balls, and recalled wicketkeeper, Aldane Thomas, who got 49.

Left-arm seamer Daniel St Clair, four for 67 and leg-spinner Imran Khan, three for 180, claimed most wickets for the Red Force. Sunday is the final day.
