Midfielder Ryan Miller continues to lead the race for the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) golden boot after he netted his eighth goal of the season in UWI FC's 2-1 win over Boys' Town at the Barbican Field yesterday to stay ahead of the chasing pack.

After an evenly contested first half, UWI found the opening goal when Miller redirected Kemar Flemming's powerful strike, off his head, past Mikhail Harrison in the Boys' Town goal on the hour. Both team continued to threaten, but it was the visitors who went further ahead in the 71st minute when Dawyne Smith set up Fabian McCarthy, who slotted past Harrison from the edge of the area.

Pierre McPherson netted Boys' Town consolation in the 89th minute.

However, Miller, who continues to enjoy rich goal-scoring form this season, was pleased to end his five-match goal drought, which also keeps him one ahead of Arnett Gardens' Fabian Reid and Portmore United's Javon East on the goal scorers' chart.

"It's another goal for me after going on a five-match drought. To score a goal today was important for me. It keeps my tally up and my hope of getting into double figures, so I am glad for it," he said.

The former Cavalier captain is hoping he can maintain his fine form in front of goal and help the team rediscover its early season form.

"It's a massive feeling for me (to be leading goal scorer) because midfielders don't usually win the top-scorer award. So as a midfielder, having eight goals so far is a good contribution to my team. I am just hoping to continue scoring goals," he said.
