Jamaica's women suffered a 4-0 defeat in their opening CONCACAF Under-20 Group B game at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Trinidad and Tobago yesterday.

Goals from Lizbeth Munoz (26th) and Katty Abad (33rd) gave the Mexicans a 2-0 lead at half-time. An own goal from Chyanne Dennis (55th) and Belen Cruz Arzate (79th) sealed the win for the Central Americans.

The Reggae Girlz held off the dominant Mexican for 26 minutes but their resistance was finally broken when Munoz found space in the box to beat goalkeeper Sydney Schneider with a downward header.. Six minutes later Mexico added a second when Katty Abad scored with a thumping header that gave Schneider no chance.

Ten minutes after the break Mexico extended their advantage, as Dennis sliced a cross into her own goal from six yards to put the Mexicans 3-0 up.

More anguish

The win was completed 11 minutes from time when Cruz Arzate beat Schneider with a low curling shot inside the post..

The young Reggae Girls will face another mammoth task to get their first point, when they go up against favourites United States at the Ato Boldon Stadium tomorrow at 6.30 p.m. The top two teams from each of the two groups will advance to the semi-finals.
