Goalkeeping errors hurt Sandals

Two errors from young Sandals goalkeeper Junior Stewart gifted Cavalier three points and a 2-1 victory in a Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) match at Stadium East yesterday.
Cavalier went ahead after only eight minutes, when Paul Wilson scored directly with a corner past an uncertain Stewart.
Then on 21 minutes, the 19 year-old dropped the ball in the box, and Kamoy Sampson stole possession and scored from three yards.
Four minutes later, Ron Daley got one back for the visitors, who were later reduced to 10 men, when Alburn Facey saw a second yellow on 83 minutes.
Sandals coach Aaron Lawrence was disappointed with his young goalkeeper, who was standing in for injured number one, Obrian Vennor.
"The team played well - too well to lose," Lawrence stated. "The goalkeeper literally gave the game away. He gave away two easy goals and when you lose like that, it is really disappointing."
Lawrence, a former national goalkeeper, could not point to the reason for the former Knockalva High stopper's nervy display.
"He played the last game against Harbour View - he was the man of the match - so I never expected him to come out so nervous and so flat. I am really disappointed. I could not put a reason to it (performance)," he added.
Vennor replaced Stewart after 25 minutes, and was Sandals' outstanding player of the second half as he pulled off a string of saves to keep the score at 2-1. Cavalier are third on 42 points, while Sandals are 11th with 19.
