Warrican the hero as Windies 'A' clinch series

Windies 'A' captain Kieron Powell believes the bowling performance of left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican, as well the century from middle-order batsman Jahmar Hamilton were keys to their innings and 17 runs victory over England Lions in their second unofficial Test at Sabina Park.

The West Indies with the result also went on to claim a 2-0 win over the Englishmen in their three-match series, which moves to Antigua this weekend.

"Whenever a West Indies team wins a series it bodes well for Caribbean cricket," said Powell after the match which ended inside three of the scheduled four days.

"It was a total team effort and credit must go to Warrican for the way he bowled to end with 12 wickets, and Hamilton for scoring a century."

Warrican, who was named Man-of-the-match and series, after also claiming the Man-of-the-match award in the first game in Trelawny, finished with eight for 34 and four for 69.

This helped restrict England to 145 in their first innings and 260 in their second.

Hamilton, in the meantime, who played as a specialist batsman due to the availability of West Indies Test wicketkeeper Shane Dowrich, scored 100 in the regional men's lone innings of 422.

"To win the toss and bowl them out for 145 in the first innings really put us in a strong position," expressed Powell.

"Then to also be able to go past their score on the first day really put us in a strong position.

"We then had Hamilton, playing really well, to get to his hundred and Raymon Reifer scoring 95.

England captain Keaton Jennings, in assessing the outcome, blamed his batsmen for not applying themselves.

"We had a lot of guys getting in, but not going on to get big scores in comparison to the way to some West Indies batsmen batted," Jennings outlined.

"It's for us now to be harsh and be honest with ourselves and push on forward in the next game, and in the one-day series."
