McLeod's manager speaks out

Claude Bryan, agent of hurdler supreme Omar McLeod, has indicated that the hurdler's non-participation at next week's IAAF World Indoor Championship relates to a matter that the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) was aware of.

In a statement Saturday, the agent wrote, "Given the JAAA’s failure to communicate and assist its constituent (Mr Omar McLeod) on a matter pertinent to team selection and representation they would have already known Mr McLeod was extremely unlikely to be in Birmingham." The precise matter was not mentioned.

"To say he withdrew after team selection," the statement continued, "is disingenuous at best and does not foster sound athlete/federation relationship."

This follows reports that 2016 World Indoor 60 metres hurdles champion McLeod had withdrawn from the team without giving a reason.

The statement concluded with the news that McLeod is in great shape and "he is looking forward to the outdoor season and future national representation”.
