SIEMPRE BUENO

SIEMPRE BUENO staved off a late charge by stablemate ORPHEUS to win yesterday's open allowance by a length, clocking a fast 57.3 for 1000 metres straight.

Faced with no matching speed among his five rivals, SIEMPRE BUENO broke well from post-position two and dictated the fractions coming out of the chute.

ORPHEUS was the only horse to break out of the chasing pack, a half-furlong out, to keep SIEMPRE BUENO honest. However, he had no chance against his quicker and lighter stablemate, who had two-kilo claiming apprentice Anthony Thomas aboard.

Thomas won two races on the nine-race card to regain his one-win lead in the jockeys' title race from Shane Ellis, who failed to ride a winner.

The champion apprentice closed the programme with an easy victory astride Richard Azan's REGGAE ROAD, who returned with the tongue tie fitted, after losing on debut, to brush aside three-year-old maidens at 1400 metres.

Racing continues at Caymanas Park on Saturday with a 10-race card scheduled.
