Alligator Pond, Los Perfectos maintain early form in Manchester

 

Alligator Pond and Los Perfectos retained their positions at the top of the Mikael Phillips-sponsored Manchester Major League following big wins earlier this week.

Alligator Pond blanked Comfort 4-0 to maintain their perfect run with 15 points from five games. Los Perfectos then answered, smashing Mile Gully 5-1 to also reach 15 points while sporting a better goal difference. However, Los Perfectos have played one more game. Interestingly, their only loss came in the opening match of the season when they went down 1-0 to Alligator Pond.

The rest of the standings reflects a disappointing showing by the other five teams. Mile Gully are on eight points, followed by Comfort, seven. Villa United have three, Technical Strikers one, while bottom-place Old England are yet to score a point after five games.

 

St Elizabeth teams sparkle in Confed Super League

 

The St Elizabeth teams have turned up the heat in the Charley's/JB Rum South Central Super League, notching important wins which have put them firmly on course to book semifinal spots.

First, Holland Police Youth Club marched into the Clarendon den of York Town and won 2-0 to move to second place in Zone Two on 17 points. Parishmates Blackstars hold pride of place at the top, moving to 26 points after outscoring Vere United of Clarendon 3-2 at the Newtown Sports Complex in Black River.

St Bess FC also participated in the rout of all the Clarendon teams last weekend, after travelling to Riverside to defeat Sporting Central Academy 3-1. Tajay Coley scored twice. Further humiliation was heaped on another Clarendon team, Moores, who were embarrassed 6-0 by Old Harbour Bay United. Quite amazingly, Tajay Baker netted five times.

The rest of the weekend results saw Dunbeholden coming from behind to defeat Rivoli 5-1 in their St Catherine derby, Greenvale notched a 2-0 win over Hillstars in a Manchester derby, and Downs finally gained a point after ending 2-2 with Porus.

 

Treadlight, Savannah Cross lead Clarendon Major League

 

Treadlight and Savannah Cross have asserted themselves as the early leaders of the 2018 Clarendon Football Association Major League season.

Treadlight, who are unbeaten, are firm leaders of Zone A, having compiled 13 points from four games, including four wins. Morgan's Pass are next on nine points compiled from four games. They are also unbeaten. Bucknor are third on seven points after an away 4-2 win over Football Central earlier this week.

Savannah Cross lead Zone B with 10 points compiled from four games. They are also unbeaten, having notched three wins and a draw. The draw was achieved in a 1-1 result away to Young Strikers, who are third in this group on seven points. Kemps Hill, who are back in the parish league, having dropped from the Confed Super League last season, occupy second place with eight points from four games.
