Netball Jamaica rejects Henry's resignation
The Board of Directors of Netball Jamaica (NJ) has voted to reject the resignation of Sasher-Gaye Henry, who, last week walked away from her position as co-head coach of the national senior team.
Henry, who along with Marvette Anderson, was brought in to take charge of the Sunshine Girls in July 2017, after the resignation of Jermaine Allison-McCracken, submitted her resignation letter to the board in a move that surprised NJ top brass.
In a release issued to the media yesterday, NJ stated that their position was agreed on after meeting with Henry earlier this week.
"Sasher-Gaye Henry met with the Human Resource Committee of Netball Jamaica and subsequently, with the president, Mrs Paula Daley-Morris. The meeting facilitated open discussions about the factors surrounding the resignation," the release read.
"We are pleased to inform the public that all parties have agreed that what is most common among us is the love for netball and our unwavering commitment to netball to work together to move the sport forward. Given the above consensus, the board of directors has voted not to accept Miss Henry's resignation," the release stated.
Henry and Anderson led the team to the silver medal at the Fast5 Netball World Series tournament in October 2017 before winning the Tami Johnson trophy in New Zealand earlier this year.
The Sunshine Girls also won the bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games in Australia's Gold Coast, while getting the better of New Zealand 60-55.
