Coaches draw comfort from 0-0 scoreline

Barbican's coach Wayne Campbell, and Dunbeholden's Michael Cohen, both went away satisfied after the teams played to a 0-0 draw in the Magnum/Charley's JB/Jamaica Football Federation Premier League play-off match at the Barbican Football Complex yesterday.

The teams have four points each but Barbican head the points standing with the better goal difference.

Campbell said his team did not play up to expectation and thought they were fortunate to escape with a point, especially after going down to ten men, when captain Ramone McKenzie received a second yellow nine minutes from time.

"At our home we came to get three points but we went down to ten men and I am more relieved than anything else," he said.

Campbell added that not getting three points at home was not a set-back at this stage.

"We got three points on the road Sunday (against Wadadah), so we are still going according to plan. Four points from two games and we are still top of the zone. We had a bit of luck .... so it's a reasonable result".

Dunbeholden's Cohen said a point away from home was good.

We are happy for the point, we are away, we are underdogs in this tournament and we came up against seasoned campaigners and we come out with a point, that is very good," he stated.

Barbican started the brighter of the two teams but by midway the first-half the visitors came into their own and looked more likely to score. They, however, wasted a few half chances to take the lead.

After the break Dunbeholden continued to look more threatening and they had a grand chance for three points when McKenzie was ejected. They nearly got the all important goal in the final minutes but Malik Douglas' shot hit the bar and rebounded into play.

In the day's other game, Mount Pleasant turned back Wadadah 1-0 to go third in the group on three points, Wadadah are at the bottom with no points after two rounds.
