Williams takes sprint hurdles in Oslo

Danielle Williams ... wins 100m hurdles in Oslo.

Sprint hurdler Danielle Williams was the only Jamaican winner at yesterday's Oslo Bislett Games Diamond League meet. The 2015 IAAF World champion captured the women's 100 metres hurdles in a season's best 12.60 seconds .

Williams who has been consistent all season used a fast-finishing burst to catch leader Alina Talay of Belarus close to the line. Talay had to settle for second in 12.63 seconds with Queen Harrison of the United States taking third in 12.71.

It was a very delighted Williams who spoke to reporters after her first success this season.

"First time in Oslo, this was fun. I'm happy with my result, a season's best is always good," said Williams .

Commonwealth Games gold medallist Kimberly Williams had a top three finish in the women's triple jump after placing third with a distance of 14.50 metres. Shanieka Ricketts, Jamaica's second entrant in the event, had to settle for fourth with 14.44 metres.

 

TWO WINS

 

Colombia's Caterine Ibarguen made it two wins in a row in the Diamond League after taking the event in a season's best 14.89m ahead of American Tori Francis, with 14.52m

Commonwealth Games champions Aisha Praught and Fedrick Dacres were out of the top three in their respective events. Praught was fifth in the women's 3000m steeplechase in 9:23.33 while Dacres who won the men's discus in Rome a week ago to take the early Diamond League lead, could only manage eighth. His best throw was 63.85m. World champion Andrius Gudzius of Lithuania who was second in Rome, won the event with a throw of 69.04m.
