Brathwaite century gives Windies Day 1 control

Opener Kraigg Brathwaite's eighth century has put the Windies in control of the second and final Test at the end of the first day at Sabina Park.

The 25-year-old, who is coming off 121 in the first Test, went on to score 110, as the Windies, after being asked to bat first, closed on 295 for four.

Brathwaite, who was scoring his third overall ton against Bangladesh, started slowly against a largely spin bowling attack.

However, after growing in confidence he went on to hit 11 fours.

He brought up his century with a dab shot to third man, before taking off his helmet and raising his bat to the small but appreciative crowd that was hand.

He was eventually caught at short mid-wicket by a diving Taijul Islam off the bowling of off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz mid-way through the final hour of the day.

The not out batsmen are Shimron Hetmyer, who is unbeaten on 84, and Roston Chase, 16. Miraz, with three for 90, has so far been the pick of the bowlers, with left-arm spinner Islam next best with one for 65.
