The presentation was made at the school's campus on North Street.

Kingston College's (KC) Manning Cup team received a major boost ahead of next month's start of the schoolboy football season, as nutrition company Qualcare presented the school with their newest shake drink, Intrust.

Daniel Wright, dietitian for Qualcare and brand ambassador for Intrust, handed over her company's products to the school during a press briefing at the school's North Street campus yesterday.

Wright said that the sponsorship is only for this summer, but there are plans afoot to sponsors the school's sport programmes on a long term basis.

"Qualcare is very big on physical activities and dieting, overall, and we chose to sponsor KC because they are a very noble institution and the players are outstanding, and they do very well," said Wright.

"This is only for the preseason, but we are looking further for more business with Kingston College and some other institutions," she said.

Grateful

Marguerita Douglas-Hall, vice-principal, of KC, said that the institution is very grateful for the sponsorship.

"This is quite important because for them to train on a regular basis and for long hours, they have to be well-balanced in their diet, and Intrust has provided something that really helps the diet of these youngsters," said Douglas-Hall.

"I think with all the budget cuts that we have been having , it will very well be worth us having this programme because it will save us (money) for sure," Douglas-Hall said.

Meanwhile, Ludlow Bernard, coach of KC, who won the Super Cup title last year and was a semi-finalist in the Manning Cup, said the products would go a far way in assisting the team with preparations for the new season.

"It is indeed a real honour to be provided with these products that are ever so essential for the nutritional needs for our players," said Bernard. "It is greatly appreciated, and we are hoping that it will go a far way in our feeding programme."
