Thanksgiving service for Cora Ricketts today
The thanksgiving service for former second vice-president of the Netball Jamaica (NJ), Cora Ricketts will be held today at the Holy Trinity Cathedral on North Street in Kingston starting at 10:30 a.m.
Rickets, who served for sport for more than 40 years, died n July 15 at the University of the West Indies hospital.
Tricia Robinson, first vice-president of NJ, said Ricketts will be sadly missed by all.
"Her death was unexpected and we are down about it," said Ricketts. "However, as she would say in her jovial voice, come guys life goes on," she said.
"We just have to remember her for the happy moments and the contribution that she made to the sport and she will certainly be missed by all," Robinson said.
The service is expected to be attended by Olivia Grange, Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, president of the International Federation of Netball Association Molly Rhone, as well as former president of the Netball Jamaica, Marva Bernard.
Also expected to be in attendance at Ricketts' funeral today are, Jamaica Sunshine Girls head coach Marvette Anderson and assistant coach Winston Nevers as well as members of the netball community. Cremation will follow at later date.
