Ffriend happy with inaugural one-day basketball clinic

Former national star basketball representative Kimani Ffriend says that he is delighted with the inaugural staging of the Hoops and Friends one-day clinic held last Saturday at the University of the West Indies gymnasium.

With approximately 50 children between ages eight and 18 in attendance, Ffriend described the clinic as "excellent".

"It went well, and I am happy with the excellent turn out. I am proud as the kids really enjoyed the clinic," Ffriend told The Gleaner yesterday.

"I am proud, but the only thing is that we had some unforeseen things, but it was out of my control. It was a great learning curve for me as an organiser of the clinic," he added.

"The sponsors all did a good job. I am excited moving forward, and I want it to be an annual clinic. It was a well-needed experience for me, and I want to get it out there. I can't complain because we had a little over a month and pulled it off with limited resources," Ffriend, who also played professional basketball explained.

"Also, the Youth Crime Watch in August Town played its role in getting the kids to and from the clinic. And Aaron Walsh, who is a coach in the USA, did great for the kids with his experience," Ffriend pointed out.
