SMASHING ONE has shown significant improvement over the past two months and is handicapped to have a strong say in tomorrow's opening race of the Sunrise-6.

The Anthony Ferguson-trained five-year-old mare ran no race last time out over 1700 metres but was much too high in the handicaps to figure. She has dropped 7kg to meet tomorrow's engagement and will be a very dangerous contender.

In a previous race at this level, and over tomorrow's distance on August 6, SMASHING ONE was slowly out but was doing her best work in the final 100 metres of that 1300 metres race. PHOTOGENIC and MR DOITBETTA were also in that race but SMASHING ONE is just too light to be ignored. Female apprentice Natalie Berger has the ride.

Race Two should see American-bred SUPER SPARKLE making it three straight. The three-year-old filly led all the way over 1700 metres on August 11 and with the distance reduced to 1500 metres it should be an afternoon stroll for the Ian Parsard-trained filly.

NUCLEAR LAVA ran extremely well on debut on August 15 but ran into a super-fit Kingswood. The three-year-old filly, by Nuclear Wayne - Molten Lava, has trained really well to meet her second engagement, pacing 1800m in 2:04.3 x 1:35.2 on August 25. Shane Ellis has retained the ride so look for NUCLEAR LAVA to go all the way in this third event over 1820 metres.

Race Four is tailored for UNCLE WAL. The Anthony Nunes-trained ICE COLD won impressively while making her debut on August 25 but did not beat much while posting a a very slow time over 1000 metres round. UNCLE WAL, on the other hand, tracked Chrisanli in 23.2x46.3 splits on August 18 and should be well clear of rivals coming into the final straight tomorrow.

Newcomer CASUAL DRINK is well advanced and is the pick for the fifth, the Front Runner Sprint for two-year-olds while the fast AWESOME CAT is favoured to capture the sixth.
