Athletes mourn death of colleague

Several athletes took to social media to mourn the death Akan track club quarter-miler, Kavon Nelson.

Nelson, 25, was killed at his home at McVille Terrace, Kingston 13 in the wee hours of Tuesday morning.

The Corporate Communication Unit of the Jamaica Constabulary Force reported that armed men invaded his home and shot him several times. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Jovan Francis said on his facebook page. "RIP to my best friend otherwise my training partner. I never knew this day would come ."

Another of his teammates, Christoff Smith said: "I can't believe you are gone."

Nelson, a Calabar High School past student, represented Jamaica at the NACAC Under 23 Championships in 2014.
