My boys showed character – Lawrence

Coach of  Frome Technical High, Aaron Lawrence, hailed his team yesterday after they battled to a 1-1 draw with Rusea's High in their ISSA/WATA daCosta Cup match at the Frome Sports Complex.

Ten-man Frome shared the points after defender Fabian Forbes was sent off, following a second caution, three minutes before half time.
      Cory Matthews gave Rusea’s the lead in the 26th minute and with ten men in the second half, Frome hit back in the 55th minute when Jevaughne Coleman scored from a corner.
   Lawrence who applauded the performance of his team in what were very tough conditions, said they are now focused on their upcoming games in order to advance from the zone.

“All week we had rain here. We played Thursday and it was the same result. We went down, came back and got a point. It’s better to get a point than none,” said Lawrence.

“When you come up against the defending champions and are able to fight back with ten men it says a lot about the character of the boys. I have to lift my hat off to them. I think that they have done their job, especially with the underfoot conditions here today,” he added.

“We now turn our attention to the next game on Thursday with Green Island and move on. We can’t win the zone again but we can place second and go through to the next round.”
