We have to dominate - Anderson

With one eye fixed on their highly-anticipated series against rivals England, which starts on Thursday, national senior women's team head coach Marvette Anderson said she is expecting a very dominant performance from the Jamaicans in game two of their Lasco Sunshine Series Trinidad and Tobago today.

The game will be played at the National Indoor Sports Centre at 6:30p.m. The Sunshine Girls lead the series 1-0 following their 61-40 win in game one on Sunday.

Anderson told The Gleaner that it is very important for the Sunshine Girls to put on a good showing in tonight's encounter, ahead of Thursday's opening contest against England.

"We are going to bring it from the first quarter against Trinidad, so you should see a more upbeat team going into Tuesday's game," said Anderson.

"We are ready and there is no doubt that we are ready for the England series," Anderson said. "There is something fresh in the back of our minds, that one point lost at the Commonwealth Games, so we have a score to settle," she said.

Anderson added that tonight's encounter will be used to select the Sunshine Girls final 12-players for the England series.

"The game is also very important because we are only taking 12-players into the series against England, as opposed to this Trinidad series. So it is an important game to decide on that final 12," Anderson pointed out.

Sunshine Girls captain Jhaniele Fowler-Reid said that it is also very important that they play well in tonight's encounter ahead of the start of the England series.

"It is very important that we get the connections going and that we work as hard as we can in preparation for the England series," said Fowler-Reid.

"We know that the England series is going to be very intense and it is going to be a much faster game than how Trinidad and Tobago plays," she said.

The Jamaicans are ranked fourth in the world two places below England in the world rankings
