Hyde & Hutchinson honoured at Bell/Zaidie

Lenworth 'Teacha' Hyde and Dennis 'Den Den' Hutchinson, spent most of their football lives playing together at Clarendon College, Boys Town and the national team, and yesterday, the pair were honoured at the annual Bell/Ziadie memorial football match at Winchester Park.

The pair revealed they share many football memories together and thought it was significant to be honoured same time. "This is very significant. This reach crescendo for me and Lenny. We started out as youngsters playing Bob West and Minor League. Lenny represented Tivoli and I represented Boys Town, even though wanted to represent Tivoli at the same time it never happened because of our fathers. But we ended up at Clarendon College together and created havoc throughout the country and as you can see today we received our just reward," he said.

Spreading the honours

"So this is very significant. This (event) is honouring 'Jackie' (Bell) and Nick's (Ziadie) memory, and we are hoping even more persons can be honoured," Hutchinson stated.

Hyde was pleased they were being recognised for the contribution to the nation's football. "It's a great feeling (being honoured). I must give thanks to 'Busy' Campbell, 'Jackie' Bell and Nick Ziadie.

Hyde said he admired Hutchinson long before they played together and that he really enjoyed their time on the pitch.

The other honourees on the day were former FIFA referee, Paulette Riley and former national player, Frankie Lewis.

Christian Ambassadors, Masters and Entertainers, St George's Invitational and the Special Olympics team contested the round robin tournament.

Some of the outstanding players on show were Andy 'Bomber' Williams, Wolde Harris, Wayne Marshall, Chris Dehring, Edsel Scott, Locksley Thompson, Mitchily Waul and Jermaine Gonzales.
