ISSA netball second round takes shape
Following eight weeks of intense competition, the top teams have separated themselves from the pack in the ISSA Urban Netball competition, and the second round will begin on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.
Among the juniors, defending champions St Catherine lead the pack after the Phyllis Thompson-coached team came out on top in Group C with the maximum 15 points from five wins. They will be joined by St Hugh's High School, who finished second with 12 points. Camperdown advanced from Group A with 12, and Jose Marti were runners-up on nine. The Queen's School topped Group B on 18, with Bridgeport High next on 12. Gaynstead High won Group D with 18 points, followed by Merl Grove High on 15. Group E went to St Jago High with 12, and Ardenne High finished second with nine. Norman Manley High topped Group F with 15, and Wolmer's took runner-up spot with nine.
Defending champions Excelsior High were impressive in the preliminary round of the senior competition, and the Christopher Smart-coached unit racked up six wins to top Group F with 18 points. They finished ahead of Holy Childhood High, who had 15. Camperdown High won Group A with six points, followed by Jose Marti on three. Group B went to Queen's, with 18, followed by Meadowbrook High on 15. St Catherine, with their nine points, took Group C, with St Andrew High runners-up on six. Bridgeport won Group D with 18 points, with Merl Grove also advancing on 15. St Andrew Technical High took Group E with nine points, and Ardenne placed second on six.
