KC win movies Myrie to tears

Kingston College (KC) ended a 32-year drought for the Manning Cup title with an exciting 3-2 win over St George's College in Friday night's final at the National Stadium. Dave Myrie, principal of newly crowned ISSA/Digicel Manning Cup champions Kingston College (KC) was at a lost for words, and in tears, after his school's narrow 3-2 come-from-behind win over North Street rivals St George's College on Friday at the National Stadium.

It was KC's first lein on the title since 1986 and their 15th overall. "We have just been working hard all season and we have taken our setbacks, and we have gone again and come again,"said Myrie as he wiped the tears from his eyes during the trophy celebration. "To have known that we have now broken a 32 year drought is just unbelievable. We live by our motto 'The brave may fall, but never yield'. People thought that when we were down 1-0, we were out and when we scored they said 'Yes!' When they scored again, they thought we were out, but we got up and that is what we do,"Myrie said.


Treyvon Reid (51st), Michael Allen (74th) and Nathan Thomas (90th),were the goal scorers for KC. Damani Harris (34th), and Chantomoi Taylor (72nd) were the scores for the St George's.​

Myrie said that this title will helped to lift the spirits of the school community. "This is unbelievable because the school has been hankering for a big trophy for a long time, and these guys have brought it home. Thank God that we have brought it home. I am feeling so ecstatic because I am really proud of the boys. We have worked hard, and people don't understand the work behind the scenes to get a team out here. Everybody has worked hard, including the management team, so to God be the glory," Myrie said.
