Scorpions in the driver's seat

The Jamaica Scorpions are in the driver's seat after day two of their Regional Four-day Championship day/night cricket match against the Windward Islands Volcanoes at Sabina Park on Saturday.

  At stumps on day two the Scorpions are 130  for six in their second innings, an overall lead of 227.

  Once again the most impressive of the Scorpions' batsmen was Assad Fudadin. Following his top score of 81 in the first innings, the steady left hander was left unbeaten on 31 at the end of play. He will resume day three with Aldane Thomas who is yet to score.   

         The Scorpions batsmen found the going rough in the second innings. John Campbell went for zero, Chadwick Walton managed 12, Jermaine Blackwood tried to dig in but was eventually bowled by the left arm spin of Larry Edwards for 31. Captain Paul Palmer made 16, Rovman Powell went for seven and Fabian Allen was leg before wicket to Sherman Lewis without scoring. Lewis, Josh Thomas and Edwards all ended the day with two wickets each.

  Earlier the Volcanoes were dismissed for 113 in their first innings with Rovman Powell taking career best figures of  five for 23. Their top scorer was captain Kirk Edwards who made 29.
