Volcanoes in good position against Scorpions at lunch
Chasing 287 for an unlikely outright win, the Windward Islands Volcanoes reached 16 without loss at lunch on day three of their Cricket West Indies Professional Cricket League Regional 4-Day Championship game against the Jamaica Scorpions at Sabina Park, in Kingston.
The dangerous Devon Smith is not out on eight and Tarryk Gabriel is on six.
Earlier, the Scorpions had resumed the days play on 130 for six, an overall lead of 227, and were eventually dismissed for 189. Assad Fudadin took his overnight score of 31 to 48 before he was last man out for the second time in the game. He faced 175 balls and hit four fours. Aldane Thomas, who was not yet off the mark overnight, looked assured in getting 31, but the tail offered very little.
Pacer Josh Thomas was the top Volcanoes bowler, taking four for 44 from 19 overs. Sherman Lewis, Kavem Hodge, and Larry Edwards all took two wickets each.
Scores in the game so far: Scorpions 210 and 189. Volcanoes 113 and 16/0.
