Diamond League | Fraser-Pryce finishes second, Bloomfield third in 100m final
Jamaican sprinting star Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce finished second behind Dina Asher-Smith in the 100m Diamond Race final at the Brussels Diamond League meet on Friday.
Fraser-Pryce, 10.95, had Asher-Smith for company throughout the entire contest, but the Brit confirmed her medal prospects at the upcoming World Championships, getting the better of the Jamaican to stop the clock in a season's best 10.88 seconds.
Marie-Josee Ta Lou, 11.09, was third.
In the 400m final, Akeem Bloomfield had to settle for third place.
Bloomfield, who is looking to be named to Jamaica's team to the World Championships despite not competing in the event at the National Championships, came into the stretch in contention for the win, but could not match the power of American Michael Norman, 44.26 and Fred Kerley, 44.46.
The Jamaican, who has gone 44.40 this season, crossed the line in 44.67. His compatriot Nathon Allen was eight in 46.17.
