Holy Trinity High School head coach Devon Anderson has threatened to bench a number of his underperforming senior players for their upcoming matches in the ISSA/Digicel Manning Cup competition. This is after their 2-2 home draw with St Jago High School at Winchester Park yesterday.

Daniel Cowan, in the 55th minute, and Kimani Maxwell, in the 79th, were the goal scorers for St Jago while substitute Roy Evelyn netted both goals for Holy Trinity in the 58th and 65th minutes.

Anderson, who was very upset with his players after the match, said he would be making several changes to his team going forward in the competition.

“It was a poor, poor performance from us,” he said. “We got a lot of clear chances, and they should have been put away, and we didn’t.

“In fact, we should have won this game from the first half, but my players just played away and gave away the game.

“A lot of them are going to be sitting on the bench from now on because their performance was not up to standard, and we can’t continue like this going forward.”

Anderson’s opposite, Erron Brown, said he was very happy with his team’s efforts.

“It was a very good performance from my team,” he said. “However, we gave away two soft goals, but despite this, I think my boys gave it their all.

“It’s a tight group because four teams are on four points, and we definitely fancy our chances of going through to the second round.”

Dominant

Holy Trinity dominated the first half as they created a number of clear-cut chances, but faulty shooting from their attackers resulted in their downfall.

However, they were made to pay for their missed opportunities 10 minutes in the second half when Cowan arrived at the front post to fire home from close range to give St Jago the lead.

However, Evelyn pulled Holy Trinity level with a powerful 25-yard shot against the run of play three minutes later. Evelyn completed his brace before Maxwell gave St Jago a share of the points 11 minutes from time.
