The ISSA/WATA daCosta Cup resumes with an exciting Group K matchup, with last season’s semi-finalists Dinthill Technical High School, who is yet to pick up a point, hosting Ben Francis Cup champions Charlemont High School.

After suffering shocking 1-0 and 2-1 defeats to McGrath High and Enid Bennett High, respectively, the two-time champions are now faced with the possibility of not advancing from the Group, if they fail to get a positive result today. Dinthill sit at the foot of the four-team group behind Charlemont and Enid Bennett, both on three points and leaders McGrath, with six.

“Certainly, the three points is our objective. Everyone understands how crucial the outcome of tomorrow’s (today’s) game is. Our opponents are also aware (of the importance of the game) so they will be going for the three points,” said Xavier Gilbert, coach of Dinthill.

Tough encounter

“We know it will be a tough encounter as all the games in the group have proven to be. Our decision making needs to better in getting the ball in the back of the net and then defend whatever we get in,” he added.

Meanwhile, Merron Gordon, coach of Garvey Maceo, said he is expecting both teams to bring their ‘A’ game when they host Glenmuir High in Group M action, this afternoon.

He is hoping to keep his 100 per cent win record since taking over last year intact.

“It’s a big game for the parish. I think Garvey (Maceo) always put up their best performance against Glenmuir and vice versa,” Gordon said.

“Last year, we played them three times and won on all three occasions, and I know that must be heartbreaking for them.

However, psychologically, the new coaching staff, who would have heard about last year, will have it in mind.

We just have to keep focussed because we are aware that we have to get a positive result,” he added.
