Waterhouse ready for Humble Lion – Gayle

Waterhouse’s head coach Marcel Gayle said he is expecting another classy performance from his team, when they face fellow unbeaten side Humble Lion in their Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) encounter at the Effortville Community Centre tomorrow.

Waterhouse, who were beaten by Portmore United in last year’s final, thrashed Harbour View 7-0 in their last game in the competition.

The victory has moved Waterhouse to the top of the standings on nine points on goal difference, ahead of promoted side Molynes United.

On the other hand, the Andrew Price-coached Humble Lion are fourth in the standings on five points and will be looking to climb up the table.

Gayle told The Gleaner that he is expecting a tough encounter from his opponents, but warned that his team is ready for the challenge.

“It is going to be a keen contest, because Humble Lion always carry their ‘A’ game to us,” said Gayle. “They have not lost any games all season and so we are aware of them, but we are going there with our mind open and to play some good football and get all three points.”

CONFIDENCE

Gayle pointed out that his team is still on a high after last weekend’s big win over Harbour View, and so his team will be coming out firing on all cylinders.

“We have been in good form and the guys are confident and they are up for this encounter,” Gayle said.

“We have to go there with our shooting boots on, but we are very mindful of their attacking system because they have a new coach and he is doing a fantastic job with the team,” he added.

Gayle pointed out that his team’s participation in the Concacaf Caribbean Football Union tournament this summer has resulted in their impressive form in the RSPL so far this season.

“I think that the CFU competition has contributed to our form because I think that we were a month ahead of most of the teams in our preparation, and so that early start is paying off for us,” said Gayle.
