Defending champions Kingston College (KC) recorded their sixth straight victory in this year’s ISSA/Digicel Manning Cup competition after a hard-fought 1-0 win over Excelsior yesterday.

Rajiv Gavin netted the all-important goal for the Ludlow Bernard-coached KC in the 90th minute.

Bernard said it was a good effort from his team because they had to work very hard for the victory.

“It was a good performance because my boys showed a lot of fight,” said Bernard. “It was a difficult game due to the fact that we weren’t able to train last week because of rain, but Excelsior showed a lot of fight because they made it difficult for us,” he said.

Former champions St Andrew Technical High School picked up their fifth straight victory in the competition with an easy 4-0 win over Northern Technical in Group C. In the group’s other game, St Catherine whipped Oberlin 4-1.
