Molynes United midfielder Jeremy Nelson celebrates the winner against UWI during a Red Stripe Premier League match on September 8, 2019.

The winning train of Molynes Football Club will roll into Harbour View this evening with hopes of picking up three more points and extending their unbeaten Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) run when 10 of the 12 teams play Game Seven.

Among the points picked up along the journey so far are the three from defending champions Portmore United. Points were also picked up from UWI FC, fellow newcomers Vere, Arnett Gardens, Dunbeholden, and Mount Pleasant. Coach Lijyasu Simms expects to pick up another three this evening.

“We are going to Harbour View to play some good football and get a positive result,” was Simms’ simple response to the question of their plans for today’s game.

Quizzed further about the pressure of keeping the winning run going, Simms said they were unaffected by that.

“The only pressure we have is to keep our players focused and grounded. As a team, we believe in hard work, and that is what has taken us this far. We try to be fit and ready for each game, take care of business, and have fun after,” a confident Simms said.

Even more confident than Simms in his speech was Gregory Bartley, coach of Harbour View, who predicted that his charges would derail the visitors.

“We have been preparing very well for this game and are confident of winning.

“Molynes must be doing something right to win six games on a trot and must also be confident coming into this game, but we are confident that we will be the team to end their run,” Bartley said.

Asked if he would do that with the same unit that was spanked 7-0 by Waterhouse earlier in the season, Bartley responded positively, indicating that they had successfully navigated those ‘troubled waters’.

“It is just what you do on the day. We are very confident. We will match them on all strides be it physically, tactically, or otherwise. I am very confident that we will win,” Bartley reiterated.

While not initially wishing to single out any players, Bartley said he expected the likes of Norman Campbell and Kevin Scott, who have been getting the goals for them, to deliver. The veteran Romario Campbell was also tipped to be influential.

Simms, for his part, said all his players are fit and available, including their leading scorer, Ryan Brown, and midfielder Patrick Sheclue, who was injured on the opening day. One player who he would not comment on was midfielder Jermy Nelson.

At the Royal Lakes Complex, ninth-place Dunbeholden will host fourth-place Humble Lion in a bid to climb further up the table while the slipping UWI FC will play away to the improving Portmore United.

Last year’s beaten finalists, Waterhouse, who are currently sitting in second position, will seek to capitalise on current form and home advantage to get the better of visitors Arnett Gardens while Vere United and Tivoli Gardens, who occupy the 11th and 12th positions, respectively, will try to get the better of each other.
