‘Hungry’ Molynes hunt Humble Lion

Molynes United coach Lijyasu Simms is expecting a positive reaction from his team when they travel to Clarendon to take on Humble Lion in the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) this afternoon at the Effortville Community Centre at 3:00.

Newcomers Molynes lost for the first time this season when they went down 3-1 to Cavalier last weekend, but Simms, who was absent from the game for personal reasons, said they are eager to get back to winning games.

“From the get-go, people have been waiting to see how we react, so no matter what we do in the Premier League, people are still going to look to see how we react,” Simms told The Sunday Gleaner. “We are coming from a loss, but the players have been training under a good vibe, and the training has been back to the intensity that it normally is. So we are in good stead for Sunday, and we are just going there to play good attacking football, score some goals and get a positive result.”

Simms, who was Glendon ‘Admiral’ Bailey’s assistant at Humble Lion last season, said that his familiarity with the club is no advantage for his team, but he says they are ‘hungry’ and ‘prepared’ to go to Effortville and take three points.

MOLYNES HUNGRY

“Football don’t play like that. Football play when the 90 minutes starts and when the 90 minute finish,” he said. “If you want to call it advantage or not, that’s up to you, but football don’t play like that. Between the time when the whistle blows and when the game finish, it is who wants it more, and, right now, Molynes is hungry. We need to go back to winning ways, and that is what we are preparing to go there and do – to go to Effortville and play positive football and come away with a positive result.”

Waterhouse will not be active until Monday when they play Cavalier, which gives Molynes the opportunity to go clear at the top of the table. But Simms said that they are not focused on Waterhouse or any other team, but on what they have to do as a team.

“Waterhouse don’t have nothing to do with us,” he said. “Molynes have their destiny in their hands. We are not watching anybody. We are just doing Molynes. We are preparing to be a part of the top four and that is what we are gearing towards. Waterhouse business is Waterhouse business, Molynes is just focusing on Molynes business.”

Waterhouse and Molynes share the lead atop the RSPL with 19 points each, though Waterhouse hold the better goal difference. Their best challengers are Harbour View with 12 points, followed by Cavalier, Humble Lion and Arnett Gardens with 11 points each. Mount Pleasant and Portmore United are next on 10 points.
