Defending champions Portmore United began the second round of the Red Stripe Premier League on a winning note, defeating Tivoli Gardens 1-0 at the Edward Seaga Complex today.

Rondee Smith scored the game's only goal in the 72nd minute as they vaulted temporary into seventh place in the standings.

Tivoli were forced to play with 10 men four minutes before halftime when Dasha Satchwell was shown a straight red for a dangerous challenge on Shai Smith. They had a chance to take the lead early in the second half but Rodico Wellington had his penalty saved by Portmore goalkeeper Kemar Foster.
