St Catherine High School defeated last season's runners-up Excelsior High School 3-2 in the final of the ISSA Walker Cup at the National Stadium this afternoon.

The win represents St Catherine's first hold on the trophy.

Jhevan Smith fired Excelsior in front in the 29th minute.

But, St Catherine responded with a brace from Assanie Brown (39th and 45th) and another from Kamau Davis (36th) to put the underdogs up 3-1 at halftime.

Excelsior pulled a goal back in the second half through Smith from the penalty spot after he was fouled in the box.

But St Catherine held out to secure the win and the title.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness, a past student of St Catherine, was in attendance at the match.

Winning coach, Anthony Patrick, said he was thrilled to guide the school to their first senior schoolboy football title.
