Jamaica’s Justin Burrowes shot his best round of the Latin America Amateur Championship to finish tied in 42nd position following final-round action at the El Camaleon Club in Mayacoba Mexico.

Burrowes shot a two over par 73 to finish with a total 25 over par 309. Once again, the windy conditions wreaked havoc in the final round on the young Jamaican, who managed a bogey and a birdie on holes three and five, respectively, to make the turn at even par.

A six on the par three 10th hole wasn’t the kind of start Burrowes was looking for on the back nine, however, he dug deep to make back-to-back birdies on holes 12 and 13.

A bogey on the par four 16th hole allowed the Jamaican to finish on two over par and a satisfactory round to close out the challenging tournament.

“Today was a bit better for me. I drove the ball well and putted really well. I didn’t get off to the start that I wanted, but I stuck it out. My scores were a lot higher than last year due to the windy conditions, but I have learnt a lot, and, hopefully, if I get invited back to the tournament, I can do much better,” said Burrowes.

Meanwhile, Argentina’s Abel Gallegos won the overall tournament following an overall four under par 280. Gallegos held off the challenge of Mexico’s Aaron Terrazas, who finished with an even par 284.

José Vega of Colombia was third with a total one over par 285.
