Fowler targets 2020 Suncorp dominance

Having won back-to-back Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards in Australian Suncorp Super Netball last season, Jamaica senior team captain Jhaniele Fowler has once again set her sights on dominating this year’s championships.
Fowler, who plays for the West Coast Fever, scored 709 goals from 753 attempts for a 94 per cent shooting accuracy.
She also had a 50 goal per game average during the championship. However, Fowler finished second in rebounding with 44 on the season.
“My goal for this season is to go out there and just dominate and that is what I try to do every season,” Fowler said.
“I think that if I can go out and dominate the talents that are coming through the league this season, then that would be amazing for me,” she said.
The 30-year-old Fowler is scheduled to depart the island on Sunday ahead of preseason training for the league which begins in early April. She believes that it is going to be much harder to win this year’s MVP award.
“It is going to be challenging to win it this year, but I would be happy to get it for a third year in a row because there are a lot of awesome and great players in the league, so if I get it, then that would be so amazing.
“I have never gone out and said I want to be the MVP. I have always gone out and said I want to do my best, and if while doing all of that I copped the MVP award for a third year, then that would be amazing.”
