EDWIN Allen High’s ace sprinter Kevona Davis started her 2020 100 metres campaign on a winning note at yesterday’s 19th staging of the Ben Francis Invitational meet at G.C. Foster College of Physical Education and Sport.

Davis, like all the other sprinters on the day, had to battle against a heavy headwind and she clocked a slow 12.09 seconds to win the Class One girls event.

“The time today was not what I expected as the windy conditions did not allow me to post a fast time, but I am happy to finish the race healthy,” she said.

It was a good day for Edwin Allen as Danae McFarlane, 12.61, and Shanique Rowe, 12.86, made it a podium sweep in the Class One 100m for the team from Frankfield, Clarendon.

Edwin Allen also won the Class Two and Four 100m. Serena Cole took Class Two in 12.26 ahead of teammate Jadea Spencer, 12.63. In Class Four, Xavion Harrison won in 12.93 beating the Manchester High duo of Alexa Pusey (12.99) and Aleah Marriot, 13.03.

Manchester High’s Shanise Ellis (12.52) was best in Class Three ahead of Vere Technical duo of Sashana Smith (12.72) and Chloe Palmer, 12.89.
