We’re not scared - Sunshine Girls duo taking precautions after COVID-19 detection in Welsh apartment

Jamaica overseas-based netballer Rebekah Robinson says that she and national teammate Latanya Wilson are doing well despite being in the proximity of persons with COVID-19.
The duo, who play for the Celtic Dragons in the Vitality Super League in England, are living in an apartment complex in Cardiff, Wales, where persons have tested positive for the virus. Robinson says that they are doing all they can to protect themselves.
Avoiding areas
Robinson says that they have been told to avoid certain areas of the building.
“In the building that we are living in, there are two persons that have the virus, but we are not scared of catching it,” Robinson told The Gleaner.
“These persons are living here, but we don’t see them any at all. So what happens is that whenever coronavirus is [found] in the area, you are given a note under your door to say who has it and where they are living so you are aware of it.
“These persons don’t come outside because they have someone who cares for them.”
Robinson says that she and her housemate have limited their travel outside of their dwelling to avoid contagion.
“If it is that we don’t need to [go outside], then we don’t go,” Robinson said. “When we are outside, we tend to stay away from people, which is for our own benefit.”
Robinson said that they are disappointed that the league came to an abrupt end because of the pandemic.
“We played three games, which we didn’t win, but individually, we can say that we were improving in certain areas skill-wise,” she said. “We really wanted to continue building on that.
“It is a long season because it is 19 rounds of matches and we have 16 games to go, so we were looking forward to building on that, and we never really got the opportunity.
“It has affected us, but we can’t change the decision that has been made right now, so the best thing to do is work individually and strengthen our skills.”
The Vitality Super League has been postponed until April.
Robinson and Wilson last represented the Sunshine Girls in January at the Quad Series in England.
