In a response to yesterday’s protest by some stakeholders at Caymanas Park, the promoters, Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment Limited (SVREL), said in a release that they understand the frustrations being experienced by members of the racing community as the country goes through the fight against the COVID-19 challenge.

The release added: “This is an unprecedented time, and industries across the country are being challenged to ensure that operations remain viable. We have employed various strategies to maintain business continuity, and our recently scaled-down operations are in keeping with the available resources at this time.

“SVREL has explored several measures, including spectator-less horse racing, and has met with the Government, the Project Monitoring Committee and horse-racing stakeholders, to have further discussions regarding reopening business operations.

“We will continue to abide by the protocols implemented by the Jamaican Government to protect the country, and reopen racing at Caymanas Park as soon as we are allowed to do so in a comprehensive manner.”
