Today is the day that the nation goes to the polls to elect a new Government, however, the Jamaican Caribbean Premier League (CPL) franchise, the Tallawahs, will be on the hunt for a victory of their own when they take on the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy.

The fourth-placed Tallawahs would be leading the polls when matched up against the Patriots, who are sitting at the bottom of the CPL table.

The Tallawahs have chalked up three wins in this year’s tournament, with victories against the St Lucia Zouks, the Patriots, and the Guyana Amazon Warriors. On the flip side, the Jamaican side has lost four games and have a negative net run rate of minus 0.122.

The Jamaican franchise is keen on getting the double over the Patriots, who have, so far, tasted victory only once in this year’s competition in eight outings.

For captain Rovman Powell, a win would be extremely important for his team as they keep a close eye on a top-four spot and a place in the semi-finals, which are right around the corner.

In his post-match interview following Tuesday’s loss to the Trinbago Knight Riders, Powell said he was pleased to see returning all-rounder Andre Russell getting among the runs once more.

When he was asked if Russell would be pushed up the order, he hinted that ‘Superman’ would be batting in his regular position down the order, however, he is hoping that the top order finally clicks to give the team the start that has been woefully lacking and allow the bottom order to come in and play their natural, power-hitting game.

Powell hinted that there won’t be too many changes in the line-up, however, it is still left to be seen if the Tallawahs will persist with the out-of-form Chadwick Walton and Asif Ali or if they will turn to Barbadian youngster Nicholas Kirton to give him another opportunity with the bat.

The first ball is scheduled for 9: a.m. Jamaica time.
