TKR crowned CPL 2020 champs

The Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) have claimed the Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) Twenty20 title with an eight wicket win over the St Lucia Zouks at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in, Tarouba, Trinidad on Thursday afternoon.

The Zouks were sent in to bat after losing the coin toss and totalled 154 all out in 19 overs and a delivery.

Andre Fletcher top scored in the innings with 39 runs from 27 balls, and this included four fours and two sixes while TKR captain Kieron Pollard was the best bowler, taking four wickets for 30 runs.

TKR's Lendl Simmons, the man of the match, and Darren Bravo made light work of the target, with Simmons top scoring on 84 not out from 49 balls. This included eight fours and four sixes. Bravo ended the game on 58 not out from 47 balls with two fours and six sixes. This helped TKR to a final score of 157 for two from 18 overs and a delivery.

TKR finished the season unbeaten to take their fourth CPL title.

The tournament was played in its entirety in a biosecure atmosphere in Trinidad and Tobago because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
