World leading time for Thompson Herah in Rome

Elaine Thompson Herah clocked a world leading 10.8 seconds to win the women's 100m sprint at the Rome leg of the Wanda Diamond League today.

Thompson Herah finished ahead of the United States' Aleia Hobbs, who was second in 11.12s, and the Ivory Coast's Marie-Josee Ta Lou, third in 11.14s.

Thompson Herah's compatriot, Julian Forte, placed sixth in the men's event in a time of 10.15s. That race was won by South Africa's Akani Simbine in 9.96s.

Sweden's Armand Duplantis also starred on the day, breaking the men's outdoor pole vault world record of 6.14m with an attempt of 6.15m. The previous record, set on July 31, 1994, was held by Ukrainian Sergey Bubka.
