Taylor returns to Big Bash League

Jamaica and West Indies captain Stafanie Taylor is set to continue her foray in the Australia Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) as she has signed on for a second season to play for the Adelaide Strikers.

Taylor, 29 years old, is set to feature much more for the Strikers in the upcoming season, after playing just two games for the Adelaide-based franchise last season.

In her first match with the Strikers last season, Taylor bagged three for 26 against the Melbourne Renegades, proving just how dangerous an asset she is.

Across her 60 WBBL matches, the right-hander has scored 1,074 runs at an average of 26.20, while also taking 49 wickets.

The ICC number one ranked batter and number two ranked all-rounder is elated to once again parade her skills Down Under, as she looks forward to a full season of Twenty20 cricket.

“I’m really pleased that I was able to return to the Strikers in a competition that has been so great for my career,” she said. “The Strikers are a fantastic franchise and I can’t wait to get started this season.”

Taylor is the third and final international that has signed for the Strikers this season, joining New Zealand captain Suzie Bates, and South African power hitter Laura Wolvaardt.

Strikers head coach Luke Williams is pleased with Taylor’s return.

“We are thrilled to be bringing back Stafanie, who proved to be such an exciting player in a short period last year,” he said. “We feel that we have a really balanced, all-round squad, and we all can’t wait for the season to be under way.”

The Adelaide Strikers will bowl off their WBBL|06 campaign on Sunday, October 25 against the Hobart Hurricanes at Hurstville Oval.
