Roman plans return in three weeks

Claiming apprentice jockey Raddesh Roman said he is now close to a return at Caymanas Park as doctors are scheduled to remove the pins from his surgically repaired right shoulder next week.
Roman has been out of the saddle since December 19 after falling from UNION FOUR during exercise after passing the three-furlong post.
He has done the surgery twice on the same shoulder in the past six months after the doctors said that the healing process was not smooth.
“Everything has been healing fine, and once they remove the pins and it heals properly, then I will start riding very soon,” he said.
“The doctors said once that is healed, then I will be able to start riding within the next three weeks,” he said.
Roman, 23, began riding at Caymanas in 2018 and has ridden 61 winners so far. He said that he is missing competing at the track, and he is anxious to return.
“It has been frustrating at times because it has been a while since I have been out of the saddle,” Roman said.
“It has been almost nine months, and at first I really missed riding, but now I am not letting it bother me at this moment.”
Tomorrow’s racing day at Caymanas Park has since been scrapped because of what is understood to be a case of COVID-19 at the track.
