JPL | Dunbeholden stay hot,TG cement playoff spot
Dunbeholden and Arnett Gardens played out a 1-1 draw in their Jamaica Premier League encounter at the UWI-JFF-Captain Horace Burrell Centre of Excellence on Saturday.
Dwayne Smith netted for the Arnold Thomas-coached Dunbeholden team in the 51st minute, while Steve Clarke replied for Arnett Gardens in the 74th minute.
The draw moved the St Catherine-based Dunbeholden from seventh to fifth place in the standings on 14 points with one round of matches remaining in the preliminary round of the competition.
Dunbeholden are now unbeaten in their last five games in the competition.
Arnett Gardens, who are out of contention for a spot in the playoffs, are ninth in the table on eight points.
In the day's second match, Tivoli Gardens cemented their spot in the playoffs after recording an exciting 4-3 victory over Humble Lion at the same venue.
Tivoli Gardens were led to victory courtesy of a first half hattrick from striker Horatio Morgan, who scored in the fifth, 30th and 40th minutes. Devroy Gray added a fourth for Tivoli in the 85th minute.
Lorenzo Lewin in the 45th and 90th and Andre Clennon in the 63rd minute, were scorers for Humble Lion.
The victory has moved Tivoli from sixth to second in the standings with 16 points.
Former champions Waterhouse lead the table with 16 points as results of their superior goal difference over Tivoli.
