Davion Ferguson, coach of defending Manning Cup champions, Jamaica College (JC), said he is looking for an improved performance and the team’s first three points of the season, when they take on Kingston Technical, in one of three Group A games on today. Jamaica College will play at their Ashenheim stadium home at 3 p.m.

In other games, Calabar take on Bridgeport and Charlie Smith face Kingston High at Stadium East at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.

Jamaica College battled to a 0-0 draw with Calabar in their first match, while Kingston Technical surrendered a one-goal lead to go down 2-1 to Charlie Smith in their opening game.

Although Ferguson is looking for a much better performance from his team today, he anticipates another tough encounter.

“It wasn’t the best of performances from us against Calabar. But I have seen all the teams in the group and I can say that this will be a pretty tough group and I am looking for Kingston Technical to put up another good challenge. So we expect that it will be a tough game.

GOING INTO GAME WITH CONFIDENCE

“But every game we play, we are confident of victory and we will go into this game confident we can get the result,” he said.

In JC’s opening game against Calabar, the Old Hope Road school was not at its scintillating best, but Ferguson expects to see a much-improved display this afternoon and has targeted nothing less than three points.

“It wasn’t the best game from us against Calabar but as the competition progresses, I expect the team to get better. So the more we play, the more you will see a more fluid and better Jamaica College,” he assured.

After one round of games, Charlie Smith and St George’s College lead the Group A standings with three points each.

They are followed by Calabar and Jamaica College with a point each, while Bridgeport (yet to play), Kingston High and Kingston Technical are still to get off the mark.
